Korea Forest Service Awarded 'Best' for National Statistics Distribution and Utilization
The Korea Forest Service announced on the 8th that it has been selected as the best institution in the '2023 National Statistics Distribution and Utilization' category organized by the Statistics Korea, recognizing the excellence of the Forest and Forestry Statistics Platform.
The Forest and Forestry Statistics Platform collects and manages statistical data, including 13 types of nationally approved statistics, and provides services to the public.
The Korea Forest Service improved the accuracy of field surveys by introducing electronic survey forms into the 'National Forest Resources Survey,' which assesses the status of forests nationwide.
Additionally, visualization features were added to the website to make it easier for the public to access and use the statistics.
In particular, during the improvement process, paper survey forms, which had mainly been used in field surveys, were replaced with electronic survey forms (app) and applied in the field, resulting in a 43% reduction in survey error rates and a 40% reduction in survey time.
The electronic survey forms and the newly added automatic verification function within the system also halved the verification time compared to before.
