Gangnam-gu Mayor Jo Seong-myeong Pays Tribute at Belgium Korean War Veterans Memorial
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) laid a wreath at the Korean War Memorial located in Brussels, Belgium, on the 6th local time, expressing gratitude for the sacrifices of the veterans who dedicated themselves to protecting the freedom of the Republic of Korea.
Before the wreath-laying, District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong visited the Wiluwe-Saint-Pierre District Office and met with Deputy Mayor Gerda Postelmans to convey thanks for Belgium's participation in the Korean War and discuss ways to promote exchange and cooperation between the two districts. Wiluwe-Saint-Pierre, where the Korean War Memorial is located, became Gangnam-gu's first sister city in 1976, following the stationing of Belgian troops at Bongeunsa Temple in the district during the Korean War.
