The promotion team consists of 34 members, including 17 from the Office of Education and 17 from the Provincial Government. The team leader is Lee Kyung-hee, the first deputy superintendent of the Office of Education, and the deputy leader is Yoon Young-mi, director of the Gyeonggi Province Women and Family Bureau.
As the government pushes for the integration of kindergarten and daycare systems under the ‘Early Childhood Education and Care Integration’ initiative, this promotion team is tasked with understanding childcare operations for young children and laying the groundwork to smoothly transfer daycare-related duties held by the provincial government and local governments to the Office of Education.
The promotion team will proceed in the following order: ▲ operating a leading Office of Education for integration to reduce the gap between kindergartens and daycare centers and promoting unified management systems ▲ full-scale implementation of region-led integration through the unified management system ▲ application of the integrated model.
At the launch ceremony, attendees shared the roles of each institution, future schedules, and promotion directions, agreeing to cooperate mutually to unify the management system for the integration.
Lim Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "The role of Gyeonggi Province, which accounts for about 30% of the nation’s young children, is crucial for realizing the integration." He added, "I hope the Office of Education and the Provincial Government will closely cooperate, share, and walk together on this uncharted path."
