Goheung-gun Successfully Hosts National Drone Fishing Tournament

67 Teams (250 People) Caught 196 Fish in 5 Hours

Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that the "National Drone Fishing Competition" held on the 4th at Gohungman Waterfront Sunset Park was successfully concluded.

The event was hosted by Jeollanam-do and Gohung-gun, organized by Segye Ilbo and the Korea Drone Industry Promotion Association, with attendees including Gong Young-min, Governor of Gohung-gun, Lee Jae-hak, Chairman of the Gohung County Council, Kwon Young-hae, Honorary Chairman of the Korea Drone Industry Promotion Association, and Lee Jae-ho, Director of External Cooperation at Segye Ilbo.

This competition, prepared to promote Gohung-gun as a marine leisure tourism destination to anglers nationwide, was held as a side event linked to the Gohung Drone·UAM Expo (Nov. 4-6, 2023), with about 70 teams (approximately 250 participants) attending. Participants were assigned their spots through a random draw.

According to the competition rules awarding by total weight, the team "Sseureodameo" (Gwangju Metropolitan City), which caught 837g in 5 hours, took first place. The second place went to the "JD" team (Ansan City, 813g), and third place to the "UNKNOWN TWO" team (Sangju City, 702g), receiving prize money of 5 million KRW, 3 million KRW, and 1 million KRW respectively.

Governor Gong Young-min said, "I am very honored that the first national drone fishing competition was held in Gohung, and I sincerely thank the participating teams who came to Gohung early in the morning. I hope that drone fishing will establish itself as a marine leisure sport through this competition."

A county official stated, "This competition was a great opportunity to inform drone anglers nationwide that Gohung is an optimal place for sea fishing. We will continue to hold competitions actively so that Gohung-gun can establish itself as a marine tourism hub."
