Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, Takes Swift Action on Construction Site Temporary Structure Collapse
At around 7:28 a.m. on the 6th, a report was received from a resident that the upper part of a temporary structure at an officetel construction site in Gongdeok-dong had tilted.
In response, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, activated the ‘Safety Mapo Hotline’ and immediately visited the construction site together with Mapo Police Station (Chief Im Seong-sun) and the fire department to take safety measures.
Additionally, the Public Safety Division, Building Support Division, Gongdeok-dong Community Center staff, and road control personnel worked together to fully prepare for any safety accidents.
Furthermore, to prevent casualties, an evacuation announcement was broadcast and the emergency contact network of community leaders was activated to ensure residents of the villas opposite the construction site could evacuate immediately.
The police and fire department who arrived together fully closed the lanes in front of the construction site (111?134 Mallijae-ro) from around 7:51 a.m. and broadcast announcements to residents. At the same time, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, requested the fire department and the construction company to restore the temporary structure to its original position.
By around 9:42 a.m., the temporary structure was restored, and immediately after, Mayor Park Gang-su inspected the restored site with a structural engineer and staff to prepare for secondary damage. The lane closure was lifted at 10:08 a.m.
