Dongkuk Steel and Dongkuk CM to Directly Employ 1,000 In-house Subcontractors
Top Priority: Worker Safety
Synergy of Technology and Human Resources
Dongkuk Steel Group's steel business units, Dongkuk Steel and Dongkuk CM, will directly employ in-house subcontracted workers.
Dongkuk Steel held a 'Special Labor-Management Agreement on Production Organization Operation' event at its Incheon plant on the 6th, and Dongkuk CM held the same event at its Busan plant, announcing that labor and management representatives reached a final agreement on the direct employment of in-house subcontracted workers.
According to this labor-management agreement, Dongkuk Steel and Dongkuk CM plan to directly employ about 1,000 in-house subcontracted workers through a special hiring process starting January 1, 2024.
Both companies' labor and management judged that the advancement of the core production organization operation is essential to respond to the uncertain management environment surrounding the steel industry and to achieve sustainable growth.
With this agreement, Dongkuk Steel and Dongkuk CM plan to respond to social demands related to industrial accident prevention and to enhance their safety management systems. Both companies intend to provide activities to foster a sense of belonging, educational program support, and harmony events so that the directly employed workers can adapt to the new environment.
