Haenam-gun Wins 'Grand Prize' for Jeollanam-do Agricultural Administration Comprehensive Evaluation Two Years in a Row
Proven Excellence in Agricultural Policy, Recognized as Top Agricultural County
Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, received the grand prize for two consecutive years in the 2023 Comprehensive Agricultural Administration Evaluation hosted by Jeollanam-do.
According to the county on the 6th, the comprehensive agricultural administration evaluation assesses the performance of agricultural administration in 22 cities and counties within Jeonnam this year to enhance the effectiveness of agricultural, forestry, and livestock projects and to promote creative policies such as discovering new initiatives.
The evaluation covers 41 items across six areas: agricultural and rural revitalization, eco-friendly agriculture, food and horticultural crops, expansion of agricultural product sales channels and agro-food industry, environmentally friendly livestock, and animal quarantine and livestock hygiene.

Haenam-gun, having won the grand prize in 2017-2018 as the best award and again in 2022, became the first in Jeonnam to receive the grand prize for two consecutive years, reaffirming its status as the top agricultural county in Jeonnam.
Haenam-gun has established a high-income agricultural production base, with 753 high-income farmers earning over 100 million won, the highest number in Jeonnam. To address the shortage of rural labor, the county actively attracted foreign seasonal workers, with 465 entering this year, providing a stable labor supply that received strong support from farming households.
Additionally, it received excellent evaluations in various fields such as cultivating 205 hectares of alternative crops to rice in preparation for rice oversupply, promoting self-initiated and public contest projects for agro-food processing and export infrastructure, and maintaining a clean livestock industry without outbreaks of major livestock infectious diseases.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on the 10th at the Jangseong-gun Culture and Arts Center during the 28th Farmers' Day celebration.
