[Winners Club] Jeong Chan-min 'TaylorMade MG4 Wedge'
Jung Chan-min is a long hitter. At the 2017 Young Champions Trophy tournament, he hit a remarkable 370m (about 405 yards). Last year, he ranked first in driving distance on the Korean Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Korean Tour with 312.4 yards, and this year he is second in this category with 314.31 yards. On the 5th, Jung Chan-min secured his second career win in six months since the GS Caltex Maekyung Open in May by showcasing a powerful short game at the Korean Tour Golfzon-Doray Open held at Golfzon County Seonsan Country Club in Gumi, Gyeongbuk.
There is a weapon that made Jung Chan-min the 'master of the short game.' It is the TaylorMade Milled Grind 4 (MG4) wedge. On the final day of the tournament, at the 8th hole (par 3), his tee shot landed in the rough. Due to the downhill slope, it was not easy to get the ball close to the hole. Jung chose a flop shot, and the ball soared high into the air, landing 2 meters in front of the hole before slowly rolling in.
Jung carries four wedges. When close to the green, he mostly uses a 60-degree wedge. He explained, "I have always been good at the short game. My most confident shots are the lob shot and the flop shot," adding, "I think in the short game, personal feel is more important than practice."
The MG4 is a laser groove wedge designed to stop the ball quickly on the green. It especially features the All-New Spin Tread technology, which enhances spin performance even when wet. Its sleek design also stands out. The head shape was designed reflecting the opinions of tour players. It employs a back geometry that provides a soft hitting feel. More weight is placed behind the center of impact to offer shot trajectory control, spin performance, and a smooth hitting sensation.
