Hope Sharing People Scholarship Support for Children in Protective Care

The nonprofit organization Hope Sharing People has signed a business agreement with Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Kwon In-wook) to support the ‘Didim Seed Bank Scholarship Support Project’ for children under protection and children from low-income households receiving basic living subsidies.
On the 1st at 4 p.m., the agreement ceremony was held at the Gyeonggi Community Chest office, attended by Kim Dong-woo, Vice Chairman of Hope Sharing People, Kim Hyo-jin, Director of Gyeonggi Community Chest, and others.
The agreement states that Hope Sharing People will donate 50 million KRW monthly for four years, totaling 240 million KRW, and Gyeonggi Community Chest will provide 50,000 KRW monthly to 100 selected beneficiaries recommended by city and county offices among Didim Seed Bank subscribers.
The Didim Seed Bank is a system where children under protection and children from low-income households deposit 50,000 KRW monthly, and the government (local authorities) adds 100,000 KRW monthly to the savings. This system is designed to help children accumulate a lump sum needed for independence, such as tuition fees, employment or startup costs, and housing expenses.

Hope Sharing People, established in 2007 as a public interest corporation, supports children and youth marginalized from educational and welfare benefits. In 2017, it became the first public interest organization to join the ‘Sharing Leaders Club,’ which requires donations of over 10 million KRW within three years under a group or meeting name. Kim Dong-woo, Vice Chairman of Hope Sharing People, said, “We donated with the hope that the Didim Seed Bank scholarship would bring a small hope to children and youth,” adding, “We hope it will help children prepare for their future even a little.” Kim Hyo-jin, Director of Gyeonggi Community Chest, said, “We thank Hope Sharing People for sharing hope with children and youth facing difficulties due to economic reasons,” and added, “Gyeonggi Community Chest will also do its best to help prepare a bright future for the children.”
