The Central Accident Response Headquarters for Lumpy Skin Disease (Lumpy Skin Disease Central Headquarters) announced on the 5th that the number of confirmed cases of lumpy skin disease in cattle in South Korea has increased to 78.
From the 20th of last month to the 3rd of this month, 77 confirmed cases of lumpy skin disease were identified, and one additional case was reported in Dangjin, Chungnam on the same day. In addition, the Central Headquarters is conducting tests on two suspected reports.
As of 2 p.m. the previous day, the vaccination rate for lumpy skin disease was 84.8%, with 3,456,000 out of a total of 4,076,000 cattle vaccinated. The Central Headquarters issued an emergency vaccination order for all cattle nationwide on the 29th of last month.

Lumpy skin disease is a viral disease transmitted by blood-sucking insects such as mosquitoes and biting flies. Infected cattle exhibit symptoms such as high fever and skin nodules (lumps), with a mortality rate below 10%.
