Gyeongnam Nonghyup Makes All-Out Efforts to Prevent the Spread of 'Lumpy Skin Disease' in Livestock Farms
Operation of 'Joint Pest Control and Disinfection Week' with Campaign until the 10th
Gyeongnam Nonghyup is launching the ‘Lumpy Skin Disease Spread Prevention Clean Livestock Farm Campaign’ to respond to the recently spreading Lumpy Skin Disease in cattle.
The campaign aims to strengthen environmental management and quarantine measures around livestock farms.
It promotes the campaign by posting banners and posters at livestock cooperative offices nationwide, and sends daily SMS messages with key quarantine updates and essential management guidelines until the eradication of Lumpy Skin Disease, encouraging and spreading voluntary environmental improvement practices among livestock farmers.
The key practices livestock farmers should focus on include ▲daily cleaning and maintaining cleanliness of barns and surrounding areas ▲thorough disinfection of barns, personnel, and vehicles ▲disinfection of compost sites and control of vector pests. To encourage more farms to participate, excellent practice cases will be continuously promoted.
Along with the campaign, Gyeongnam Nonghyup plans to operate the ‘Intensive Disinfection Week’ until the 10th, running the highest-level joint quarantine teams with 86 teams from the Livestock Cooperative Joint Quarantine Team and 12 teams from the NH Quarantine Team to control blood-sucking insects that transmit Lumpy Skin Disease and make every effort to block its spread.
