President Yoon Suk-yeol specially took care of two citizens who came out to welcome him during his recent visit to Andong.
The Presidential Office announced that on the 27th of last month, when President Yoon visited Andong, he gifted wristwatches, a presidential souvenir, and red ginseng to grandmothers Kim Su-haeng (94) and Choi Su-geun (83), who, despite their physical discomfort, stood by the roadside and applauded the president along with other residents.
Although Kim Su-haeng and Choi Su-geun had difficulty moving, they reportedly stayed by the roadside from an hour before President Yoon passed by.

The Presidential Office learned about these elders' story belatedly through the media. They expressed their desire to personally convey their gratitude and communicated this to Gyeongbuk Province. On the 2nd of this month, Lee Dal-hee, the Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeongbuk Province, personally delivered the gifts and expressed thanks to the grandmothers.
Deputy Governor Lee Dal-hee of Gyeongbuk Province helped the two grandmothers put on the presidential wristwatches and shared barley rice cakes and glutinous rice cakes while having a friendly chat.
Grandmother Choi Su-geun said, “Living this long, a day like this comes,” adding, “I only clapped to wish the president well, but receiving a gift makes me happy. I feel my wish has come true,” with a broad smile. Grandmother Kim Su-haeng also said, “I always wear the jacket my dutiful second son gave me when it’s cold, and I’m glad to receive a gift from the president as well.” She happily added, “I will give the wristwatch to my second son.”
