Jeonnam Police Conduct Illegal Cyber Gambling Prevention Education for Youth
The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 2nd that it conducted on-site preventive education by visiting A Middle School in the jurisdiction to strongly crack down on online gambling and advertising media that lure teenagers and to raise awareness of the seriousness of the crime.
Recently, the number of users accessing illegal gambling sites has been increasing due to being enticed by advertisements through SNS and illegal OTT services.
Cybercrime prevention education specialist instructor (Sergeant Yoon Chan-min) stated that cases related to such crimes are increasing mainly among teenagers and urged them to be especially cautious.
The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency has been conducting a special crackdown on illegal cyber gambling targeting teenagers for six months from the 25th of last month to March 31 of next year.
They plan to promote an all-out crackdown not only on illegal gambling sites but also on various illegal content sites that advertise and serve as access points to them.

The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency stated, “We will do our best not only to prevent online illegal gambling, which leads to school maladjustment and secondary crimes, but also to prevent digital sex crimes targeting teenagers that are rapidly spreading through SNS and random chat services.”
