Jirisan Piagol Autumn Foliage Festival Held

Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Soon-ho) announced that the ‘47th Jirisan Piagol Autumn Foliage Festival’ will be held for two days from November 4th (Sat) to 5th (Sun) in Jirisan Piagol, famous for the ‘Three Reds (Samhong): Sanhong (Mountain Red), Suhong (Water Red), and Inhong (Human Red).

Organized by the Jirisan Piagol Autumn Foliage Festival Promotion Committee (Chairman Hyun Yong-il), this festival will be held under the theme ‘The mountain, the water, and you are all autumn leaves!’ with various programs.

On the first day, November 4th, at 9:30 AM, the festival will begin with a healing walk along the autumn foliage path (from Jikjeon Village to Pyogomakteo) and a ‘Danpung Ceremony’ to honor the mountain spirit of Jirisan at Pyogomakteo in Piagol. There will also be an Eumbok event where visitors share ceremonial food and Makgeolli.

At the main stage in the large parking lot of Yeongoksa Temple, experience events, performances, flea markets, and promotional booths will be prepared for tourists. Additionally, fully bloomed chrysanthemums will be exhibited at Yeongoksa Temple to provide visitors with sights and memories.

Other activities include the Piagol Autumn Foliage Rally, SNS certification events for autumn leaves, rural harvest experiences, traditional rice cake making, straw craft experiences, wish ribbon hanging, and a lottery event to catch luck while enjoying the autumn leaves, offering various memorable experiences.

To alleviate vehicle congestion, traffic will be controlled on the autumn foliage path section from Pyeongdo Village to Yeongoksa parking lot and Jikjeon Village, and shuttle buses will operate.

A Gurye-gun official stated, “Since many tourists are expected to visit to see the autumn leaves, we will deploy professional traffic services to ensure smooth traffic flow and take thorough measures to prevent any safety accidents.”
