Korea Ceramic Foundation 'Gyeonggi Ceramic Tableware Contest'... Until the 21st
The Korea Ceramic Foundation is hosting the ‘2023 Gyeonggi Ceramic Tableware’ contest, a table setting competition using Korean ceramic products, until the 21st.
This contest is one of the main events of the ‘Gyeonggi Ceramic Fair,’ the largest ceramic specialized exhibition in Korea that showcases new ceramic trends every year. It was planned to expand awareness of ceramic culture and revitalize Korea’s ceramic cultural industry by discovering artistic value in everyday dining culture displayed on the table. This year marks the third edition of the contest, held for the first time in four years since 2019.
The Korea Ceramic Foundation is recruiting participants to present tableware reflecting consumers’ sustainable consumption and lifestyle in modern society under the theme ‘Our Sustainable Table’ this year. Anyone can participate individually or as a team, emphasizing awareness of environmental issues currently faced by our dining tables, and expressing everyday aesthetics and art using eco-friendly ceramic tableware.
To participate, applicants must submit online four styled photos that show the overall composition of the ceramic tableware along with an explanation of their tableware arrangement.
The judging process consists of a first round of document screening and a second round of physical evaluation. In the first round, 15 winning entries will be selected based on ▲design ▲expressiveness ▲potential. The second round of physical evaluation will take place from December 7 to December 10 at COEX in Seoul during the ‘2023 Gyeonggi Ceramic Fair,’ where on-site assessments by a panel of experts and public voting via the foundation’s Instagram will be conducted.
Based on the results, a total of 15 winners (teams) will be selected: ▲Grand Prize 1 winner (3 million KRW) ▲Excellence Award 2 winners (1 million KRW each) ▲Special Award 2 winners (500,000 KRW each) ▲Honorable Mention 10 winners (300,000 KRW each).
The winning works will be specially exhibited at the Gyeonggi Ceramic Tableware contest booth set up within the event venue during the Gyeonggi Ceramic Fair, open to visitors.
