BPA Installs Anti-Slip Pavement at Busan New Port 5th Pier Intersection
Busan Port Authority (BPA) has installed anti-slip pavement at the intersection near New Port Pier 5 in Busan New Port to improve traffic safety.
The roads near Busan New Port have a high volume of large vehicles with long braking distances, raising concerns about serious traffic accidents such as multi-vehicle collisions at intersections.
Accordingly, BPA carried out spaced anti-slip pavement installation at the entrance section of the intersection near New Port Pier 5. The spaced pavement generates noise from friction when vehicles pass, encouraging drivers to drive cautiously.

Additionally, a full-surface anti-slip pavement covering the entire road surface was applied over a 50m section from the stop line. This helps reduce vehicle braking distances and prevent serious traffic accidents.
Lee Sang-kwon, Head of Construction Division at BPA, said, “Starting with the installation of anti-slip pavement, we will expand the installation of traffic safety facilities within Busan Port New Port and do our best to improve traffic safety.”
