Binggrae Achieves Integrated A Grade for 5 Consecutive Years in ESG Evaluation by Korea ESG Standards Institute
Evaluation System for Sustainability Management Levels of 987 Listed Companies
Binggrae announced that it has achieved an integrated A grade for five consecutive years in the 2023 ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation.
The ESG evaluation is a system conducted annually by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS) to assess the sustainability management level of domestic listed companies. This year, the evaluation was carried out on 987 listed companies, and the grades were publicly announced.
Specifically, Binggrae received an A grade in the environmental sector, an A+ in the social sector, and a B+ in the governance sector. Notably, in the social sector, the company improved by one grade from the previous year to achieve an A+ rating. This recognition was due to active social contribution activities, obtaining the international standard compliance management system ISO 37301 certification last year, and receiving the top award for fair trade agreement compliance for two consecutive years.
Since 2013, Binggrae has been consistently donating a portion of the sales revenue from its flagship product, Banana Flavored Milk, to the Korean Red Cross. Additionally, the Binggrae Public Interest Foundation, established in February 2011 with funding from Binggrae, has been continuing a scholarship program for descendants of independence activists since 2018 to spread gratitude and respect for their contributions.
Furthermore, based on the '3R (Recycle, Reduce, Redesign)' strategy, Binggrae is making efforts to reduce plastic use and carbon emissions. Examples include changing the packaging of Acapella to shrink labels that can be easily separated during the water separation process with a proportion of less than 1, and lightweighting the packaging film of ice cream products as well as the PET bottles of the premium refrigerated juice brand Ttaom.
