Hyosung Advanced Materials Leads Efforts to Protect Critically Endangered Species of Plants and Animals
Installation of Endangered Wildlife Protection Facilities
Creation of Mellwon Plant Garden in Seocheon-gun, Chungnam
Hyosung Advanced Materials is carrying out various endangered species protection projects to conserve biodiversity.
On the 30th, Hyosung Advanced Materials announced that it has partnered with the National Institute of Ecology to protect endangered wild animals such as the Korean goral in the Yeongyang and Uljin areas of Gyeongbuk Province.
Hyosung Advanced Materials supports the installation of facilities to protect endangered wild animals for small-scale and micro farms in the region.
The Yeongyang and Uljin areas in Gyeongbuk Province, consisting of the Baekdudaegan mountain range and large forests, are known habitats for first-class endangered wild animals such as the Korean goral. Due to budget shortages and cost issues for wildlife damage prevention fence support projects, farms have installed cheap nets, which have caused cases where wild animals like the Korean goral get caught, injured, or die.
It is expected that the support for installing steel fences by Hyosung Advanced Materials will help protect animals around the farms.
Hyosung Advanced Materials has created a nectar plant garden using endangered plants within the Mulbeodeul Ecological Experience Learning Center in Seocheon-gun, Chungnam Province, to protect endangered wild plants.
Nectar plants provide nectar and pollen, which are food sources for honeybees. The garden includes endangered species such as Jeonju water willow (Jeonjumulkkoripul), swallow iris (Jebibutchot), and Daecheong fan (Daecheongbuchae) to conserve species diversity and contribute to increasing honeybee populations in the mid to long term.
Since signing a business agreement with the National Institute of Ecology in May last year, Hyosung Advanced Materials has been continuously promoting the restoration project of Jeonju water willow. On the 11th, employees of Hyosung Advanced Materials participated in removing invasive plants on Yubudo Island, focusing on various activities to conserve and enhance biodiversity.
