POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director Lee Jin-su) held an outdoor joint wedding ceremony for two multicultural couples from the local community on the 27th at Baegun Greenland in Geumho-dong, putting into practice its corporate citizenship management philosophy of coexisting with the local community.
At the joint wedding ceremony held that day, two multicultural couples who live and have families in Korea but were unable to hold wedding ceremonies due to financial reasons were able to tie the knot under the clear autumn sky with the help of the Gwangyang Steelworks Friends Volunteer Group.

Previously, the Gwangyang Steelworks Friends Volunteer Group, together with the Gwangyang Gaya Lions Club, has been supporting joint wedding ceremonies since 2007 for low-income and underprivileged multicultural couples in the region recommended by the Gwangyang Multicultural Family Support Center.
Including the wedding ceremony held that day, a total of 70 couples have been married so far, contributing to the happiness of multicultural families in the local community.
The wedding ceremony began with a sand ceremony symbolizing harmony, where two different colors of sand were poured into one bottle.
This was followed by the wedding vows and the reading of the marriage declaration, officiated by Lee Jin-su, Director of Gwangyang Steelworks.
Additionally, the Gwangyang Steelworks Orchestra performed congratulatory music, and each couple’s family sang celebratory songs, further enhancing the atmosphere.
In particular, Director Lee Jin-su of Gwangyang Steelworks, the Friends Volunteer Group, and the Gwangyang Gaya Lions Club prepared wedding gifts worth approximately 2 million KRW, including electric pressure cookers, microwaves, induction cooktops, and bedding sets, surprising the two couples and adding to their happy married life.
In his officiating remarks, Director Lee Jin-su said, “I hope you overcome cultural differences through deep understanding and consideration for each other and firmly establish yourselves as members of our local community.” He added, “I sincerely congratulate your marriage on behalf of POSCO Group employees and local residents, wishing you a healthy family filled with joy and happiness.”
After the ceremony, one bride said, “I am grateful to the Friends Volunteer Group for giving me a dreamlike wedding ceremony in this distant country called Korea,” and added, “I believe I can happily settle down here in Gwangyang with my Korean husband.”
