Hyundai Glovis Receives 'A+' in KCGS ESG Evaluation
Hyundai Glovis announced on the 27th that it has received the highest grade of A+ in the 2023 ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation and rating results for listed companies announced by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS).
The Korea Corporate Governance Service is a leading institution conducting ESG evaluations in Korea, assessing the sustainability management levels of domestic listed companies annually and publishing the ratings. This year, evaluations were conducted on approximately 790 companies.
Amid recently stricter evaluation models, Hyundai Glovis improved by one grade from last year to achieve an A+. The A+ rating corresponds to the top 2.5% of evaluated companies. Hyundai Glovis officials explained that receiving A+ in the 'Environment (E)' and 'Social (S)' categories particularly led to the overall grade improvement.
Hyundai Glovis has established policies for greenhouse gas reduction, minimizing pollutant emissions, and raising environmental awareness, and implements detailed action plans for each business site.
Additionally, it monitors environmental performance through internal evaluations and manages its environmental management system via external audit processes. The company is promoting the establishment of an eco-friendly logistics system across its business sectors, including automobile carriers equipped with liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel engines and the introduction of electric trucks.
One of the factors contributing to the high evaluation in the 'Social' category was the strengthening of human rights management. Hyundai Glovis provides working conditions that allow employees from diverse backgrounds, regardless of gender or race, to realize their values.
Furthermore, to prevent human rights violations arising from business operations and mitigate related risks, Hyundai Glovis has established a Human Rights Charter based on international standards and guidelines related to human rights and labor, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), the International Labour Organization (ILO) Charter, and the OECD Due Diligence Guidelines.
In the Governance (G) category, efforts such as board-centered management and strengthening communication with shareholder rights and market stakeholders were highly evaluated.
