DB HiTek "Ultra-High Voltage Power Semiconductor Process Technology Upgrade"
Expansion of Applications from Refrigerators and Home Appliances to Electric Vehicles and Solar Power
DB HiTek announced on the 27th that it is upgrading its ultra-high voltage (UHV) power semiconductor process technology and actively expanding its business.
The ultra-high voltage power semiconductor process supports the design and manufacturing of gate driver chips, which play a role in driving motors across a wide range of fields such as home appliances, automobiles, telecommunications, and industry. DB HiTek expects the gate driver chip market to grow at an average annual rate of 109% from 2022 to 2027 and plans to expand its ultra-high voltage power semiconductor business to enhance competitiveness.
DB HiTek explained, "Through the process technology upgrade, we can now provide an environment where both level shifter insulation and galvanic insulation methods can be used simultaneously in gate driver chips," adding, "This allows customers to leverage the advantages of level shifters, which facilitate chip design, and galvanic insulation, which offers high stability in high-voltage operation." They also added, "The application of the process can be expanded from the existing home appliance sector to the automotive and solar power fields."

DB HiTek stated that by January next year, it plans to offer a 600V-class process optimized for the home appliance sector, which accounts for the largest share (10%) in the gate driver chip market. Within this year, it will sequentially secure 200V-class processes for electric kickboards and electric scooters, as well as 1200V-class processes for textile machines and industrial use, thereby strengthening its ultra-high voltage power semiconductor competitiveness.
