"Regime Crisis by Chance?" An Min-seok Raises Drug Case Conspiracy Theory
Following the Democratic Party Spokesperson, An Min-seok Also Claims
"Timing Sufficient for Misunderstanding... Judgment Belongs to the People"
Criticism of "Damage to Lawmakers' Dignity" Over Inaccurate News
Democratic Party of Korea's five-term veteran lawmaker Ahn Min-seok recently joined conspiracy theories surrounding celebrity drug cases involving Lee Sun-kyun and Kwon Ji-yong.
On the 26th, Ahn Min-seok appeared on YTN Radio and said, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration faced its greatest crisis after losing the by-election for the Gangseo District Office chief," adding, "Is it a coincidence that drug issues involving celebrities like Lee Sun-kyun and G-Dragon have erupted during this political crisis?" raising doubts.
On the 26th, Representative An Min-seok appeared on YTN Radio and stated, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration has faced its greatest crisis after losing the by-election for the Gangseo District Mayor since its inauguration," and raised the question, "In a situation of government crisis, is it a coincidence or just happenstance that drug issues involving celebrities like Lee Sun-kyun and G-Dragon have emerged?"

When asked by the host whether he believed the administration was behind it, he replied, "Politics is the art of timing, and if one is not a fool, this timing is enough to cause suspicion that someone might have intentionally planned and orchestrated it."
However, seemingly aware of potential controversy, Ahn stepped back slightly, saying, "There is no evidence, but it is enough to cause misunderstanding, and it remains for the people to judge."
Earlier, on the 21st, Lee Kyung, the Democratic Party's full-time deputy spokesperson, raised a conspiracy theory on Facebook, stating, "Kim Seung-hee, former Presidential Office Protocol Secretary's daughter, was a perpetrator of school violence causing injuries requiring nine weeks of medical treatment. We hold President Yoon Seok-yeol responsible for pardoning and reinstating Kim Tae-woo to run in the Gangseo District Office election. Such news is being overshadowed by the drug use allegations against actor Lee Sun-kyun."
Yoon Ji-oh and Choi Seo-won Spark Multiple Fake News Controversies Including 300 Trillion Won Assets
Assemblyman Ahn disguised Yoon Ji-oh, a former colleague of Jang who left a will stating he was forced to provide sexual favors and then took extreme measures in 2009, as a whistleblower. However, after Yoon faced multiple lawsuits and accusations of false testimony and embezzlement of donations, she fled to Canada.

Netizens are rather critical of Ahn Min-seok's alignment with conspiracy theories. This is because Ahn has previously spread 'fake news' related to Yoon Ji-oh, the Gwangju shopping mall, and Choi Seo-won (formerly Choi Soon-sil)'s assets.
In 2009, Ahn portrayed Yoon Ji-oh, a former colleague of Jang who left a suicide note claiming forced sexual favors, as a whistleblower. However, after multiple lawsuits and accusations of false testimony and misappropriation of donations, Yoon fled to Canada. In February last year, regarding the People Power Party's presidential campaign promise to build a complex shopping mall in Gwangju, Ahn claimed, "I understand there is a shopping mall bigger than Shinsegae Starfield in Gwangju," which was later proven false.
Additionally, in 2019, he posted a statement implying that Song, wife of former Deputy Minister of Justice Kim Hak-eui, knew Choi Seo-won, resulting in a court ruling ordering him to pay 7 million won in damages to Song.
During the trial of the 'Choi Soon-sil political scandal' in 2017, he also claimed that Choi's hidden assets amounted to 300 trillion won.
