Competition Rate for Busan Public and Private Secondary School Teacher Employment Exam at 8.1 to 1
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 25th that 4,316 applicants applied for 530 recruitment positions in the '2024 Academic Year Public and Private Secondary School Teacher Candidate Selection Competitive Examination,' showing an average competition rate of 8.1 to 1.
This competition rate is slightly lower than last year, when 4,055 applicants applied for 474 recruitment positions, resulting in a competition rate of 8.6 to 1.
Looking at this year's application details, 3,476 applicants applied for the general recruitment of 382 public secondary school teachers, showing a competition rate of 9.1 to 1, and 28 applicants applied for the general recruitment of 5 public secondary special school teachers, showing a competition rate of 5.6 to 1.
For the separate recruitment of 32 positions for persons with disabilities, 30 applicants applied, showing a competition rate of 0.9 to 1. Additionally, 782 applicants applied for 111 recruitment positions for private secondary school teachers commissioned by the city education office, showing a competition rate of 7 to 1.
By subject, Japanese had the highest competition rate with 35 applicants for 2 recruitment positions, at 17.5 to 1, while Special Art had the lowest with 6 applicants for 2 recruitment positions, at 3 to 1.
Among public school teacher applicants, 1,374 applicants applied simultaneously for both public and private schools, choosing private schools as their second preference, which is 81 fewer than last year's 1,455.
By age group, there were 2,585 applicants in their 20s (59.9%), 1,229 in their 30s (28.5%), 442 in their 40s (10.2%), and 60 aged 50 and above (1.4%). By gender, females accounted for 2,963 applicants (68.7%), significantly more than males at 1,353 (31.3%). The oldest applicant was a 61-year-old female.
The first stage of the appointment exam will be announced on the city education office website at 10 a.m. on November 17. Examinees must enter the exam room at the designated test site by 8:30 a.m. on November 25, carrying their admission ticket and ID.
