President Lee: "I am happy when students take pride in their alma mater"
"Today, I lay down the heavy responsibility that rested on my shoulders as the President of Changwon National University, but I will forever cherish the precious memories and connections with the Changwon National University family in my heart."
Dr. Lee Ho-young, the 8th President of the National Changwon University, said this at the farewell ceremony held on the 24th.
Changwon National University announced that it held the farewell ceremony for the 8th President, Dr. Lee Ho-young, in the university headquarters' large conference room on the same day.
According to the university, the ceremony was attended by President Lee, administrative officers, faculty and staff, students, alumni, representatives of related organizations, and local residents.
The President said, "It was a great happiness as a president to witness the moment when students, like uncut gems with their own unique light, were nurtured into society's jewels and took pride in their alma mater."
He continued, "Since being appointed as a professor at Changwon National University in 1995, Changwon National University has been my everything. He said, "Everyone talks about the crisis of regional universities, but if the members of our university, who have the strength and capability to fully embrace the great historical current of Changwon National University, unite, we will continue to develop and leap forward. I would like to once again express my gratitude to everyone who warmly supported me over the past four years."
On this day, as President Lee's term ended, Changwon National University transitioned to an acting president system with Vice President Eo Yoon serving as the acting president.
At national universities, the president is appointed by the president of the country upon the recommendation of the Minister of Education, who in turn recommends candidates selected by the university. However, at Changwon National University, the candidate recommendation has not even been made because the research ethics verification for the candidates has not been completed.
Earlier, on August 30, Changwon National University selected Professor Park Min-won and Professor Song Sin-geun as the first and second candidates for the 9th president appointment election, but the recommendation of candidates has been delayed due to allegations of research ethics violations related to the candidates.
