'Minsaeng Hyeonjanghaeng' Yoon's Order Leads Yongsan Staff to Consecutive Field Schedules
Chief Secretary Kim Dae-gi Listens to Youth Administrative Officers
Senior aides at the Presidential Office are focusing on 'livelihood' and 'youth' as they intensively carry out on-site schedules.
Before departing on his Middle East tour, President Yoon Suk-yeol urged, "From the Chief Secretary to the Senior Secretaries, Secretaries, and Administrative Officers, no aide should just sit at their desks; they must delve into the livelihood sites of the people." This is a follow-up action to that request. Although on-site schedules have been conducted previously, the frequency and scope will be further increased going forward.
On the 24th, Kim Dae-gi, Chief Secretary to the President, held a meeting with ten administrative officers in their 30s at the Yongsan Presidential Office to gather opinions related to state affairs. This schedule was arranged following President Yoon's request.
During the meeting, various criticisms were reportedly raised, such as "Ideology is important, but the fairness agenda must be upheld," "The phrase 'a government for the youth' rings hollow as the younger generation is hardly visible," and "Why are young people absent from policy and decision-making processes, with only elderly men present?" In particular, contrary to the opposition's personnel policy, the current administration's tendency to appoint mainly those aged 60 and above to key positions in the cabinet and public institutions, rather than mid-to-young adults in their 30s to 50s, was noted as potentially leaving a negative impression on young voters.
At the high-level ruling party-government council meeting on the 22nd, Kim Dae-gi emphasized 'price stabilization' as the top priority and is reportedly considering visiting sites related to living costs soon. He has repeatedly urged each Senior Secretary and Secretary to more diligently attend to livelihood sites. Accordingly, Lee Gwan-seop, Senior Secretary for State Affairs Planning, is scheduled to visit shops in Jongno, Seoul, on the 25th to meet with small business owners, and Kang Seung-gyu, Senior Secretary for Civil Society, will hold a meeting with MZ generation teachers on the same day.
Secretaries at the Secretary level are also moving swiftly on the ground. Kim Jong-moon, Secretary for National Tasks, visited the Gyeongin Immigration Office in Mok-dong, Seoul, on the same day to meet with foreign workers and frontline immigration officials to hear about their difficulties. Kim Min-seok, Secretary for Employment and Labor, held group meetings with IT education institutions such as 'Moduui Yeonguso' (Everyone's Lab), 'Elis', 'Meotjaengi Sajacheoreom' (Like a Stylish Lion), and 'Grep' in Gangnam, Seoul, to check on youth employment status and the current state of education and employment support programs.

Under the perception that there is a gap between what is encountered through various administrative indicators or government reports and the actual field, the aim is to confirm more accurate public sentiment and reflect it in state affairs, as President Yoon requested. Within the Presidential Office, there are also discussions about having economic and industrial aides visit security-related sites.
