[One Day Ten Thousand Steps, One Day Thousand Characters] Carrying Trash and Running, This Is the Start of ESG
At 10 a.m. on the 17th, about 140 people gathered at the Incheon Namdong Neighborhood Park stadium. Dressed casually in sneakers, it looked like a sports event was about to take place. However, each person held a blue trash bag and a large grabber. They ran from Namdong Neighborhood Park to the nearby Namdong Industrial Complex, picking up trash along the way. This activity was 'plogging,' jogging while picking up litter. Employees from the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation and companies participating in the Industrial Cluster Competitiveness Enhancement Project took part in the event.
On the 25th, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation announced that it conducts campaigns and plogging activities by regional headquarters and industrial complexes to promote ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management among tenant small and medium-sized enterprises. The recent plogging event at the Incheon Namdong Industrial Complex was held alongside a joint resolution meeting to spread 'Industrial Complex ESG' and a 'Clean Industrial Environment.' By picking up trash and running together, the Industrial Complex Corporation and tenant companies took the first step toward ESG management.
This is understandable, as interest in corporate social responsibility and sustainable management is growing, yet more than 70% of small and medium-sized enterprises are still unprepared for ESG management. Additionally, the most important ESG areas for companies were found to be environment, social, and governance, in that order. It is explained that ESG expansion activities are needed according to their importance.

'Ssedam Running,' a Korean term combining 'collecting trash' and 'running,' means plogging. The G-Valley Ssedam Running event started last year and is now in its second year.
The sight of 200 people plogging around G-Valley (Seoul Digital Industrial Complex) has become a hot topic among nearby office workers and merchants. It serves as an opportunity to improve the health of workers in G-Valley and to create a pleasant industrial complex environment. The participants' response was positive, with about 100 people posting certification posts on social networking services (SNS) this year. Although not mandatory, half of the participants promoted Ssedam Running through SNS.

Both last year and this year, the target amount of 2 million KRW was achieved and donated. This year, the donation was given to the Geumcheon Future Scholarship Foundation, a local scholarship foundation.
