Han Hwa-jin, Minister of Environment, stated on the 23rd, "We will faithfully implement the environmental regulation improvement measures for the secondary battery sector that have been identified so far."
Minister Han made these remarks during a discussion meeting on support measures for the secondary battery industry held at POSCO Future M Sejong Plant 2 in Sojeong-myeon, Sejong City, in the afternoon.
The meeting was attended by the Korea Employers Federation, Korea Battery Industry Association, POSCO Future M, Samsung SDI, LG Energy Solution, and SK On, where they shared improvements in environmental regulations and discussed development plans for the secondary battery industry sector.
The participating companies conveyed that many on-site difficulties have been resolved through the Ministry of Environment's recent active regulatory innovation efforts, such as improvements in waste battery regulations. They also requested additional support from the Ministry of Environment, including improvements in wastewater treatment and hazardous chemical handling facility regulations, as well as expanded benefits for green companies.

Since the first half of this year, the Ministry of Environment has been examining regulatory compliance conditions at corporate sites in various ways and preparing improvement measures to support the leap of advanced industries such as semiconductors, displays, bio, and pharmaceuticals.
