The Buchae-pyo Gasong Foundation and the Korean Pharmaceutical Association announced on the 23rd that Professor Emeritus Kim Young-jung of Seoul National University College of Pharmacy was selected for the 5th Yoon Kwang-yeol Pharmaceutical Merit Award, and Professor Lee Yong-bok of Chonnam National University College of Pharmacy was selected for the 16th Yoon Kwang-yeol Pharmaceutical Award.

The 'Yoon Kwang-yeol Pharmaceutical Merit Award' is given to members of the Korean Pharmaceutical Association who have dedicated more than 10 years to promoting public health and have made significant contributions to the development of pharmacy in Korea.
This year's recipient, Professor Emeritus Kim Young-jung, was recognized for his contributions to the advancement of pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry through nurturing professional talent, having served as president of the Korean Pharmaceutical Association and the Korean Society of Medicinal Crop Science. Professor Kim established methods for isolating various bioactive compounds with different skeletons necessary for drug development from domestic and international natural resources and verified their mechanisms of action. He published over 250 research papers in domestic and international professional journals. Furthermore, to conserve and sustainably develop domestic plant resources, he established the Seoul National University Medicinal Herb Garden, laying the foundation for research, education, and the development of new natural drugs.
Professor Lee Yong-bok, who received the 'Yoon Kwang-yeol Pharmaceutical Award,' was recognized for his dedication to education and research over 39 years in academia, contributing to the enhancement of research capabilities in the Korean pharmaceutical field. The Yoon Kwang-yeol Pharmaceutical Award is given to members who have made outstanding research achievements for more than 10 years and contributed to the academic development of the domestic pharmaceutical field.
In the past 10 years, Professor Lee published 61 papers in international journals and 9 papers in domestic journals, contributing to the establishment and dissemination of bioequivalence testing in Korea. He has supervised 15 PhD and 48 master's students and received the Excellence in Education Award from the president of Chonnam National University for outstanding lecture evaluations. He has also been active in social service through academia, associations, and civic volunteer organizations.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on the 26th at the Suncheon Bay Ecological and Cultural Education Center in Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do.

Meanwhile, the Buchae-pyo Gasong Foundation was established in April 2008 through the personal donations of Chairman Yoon Kwang-yeol of Dongwha Pharm and his wife Kim Soon-nyeo, based on the philosophy that 'corporate profits should be returned to society.'
