Gwangju Buk-gu to Host Gwangju Representative Food Festival on the 27th
On the 27th, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 22nd that it will hold the Gwangju Representative Food 'Mat+Bom Festival'.
The Gwangju Representative Food Festival is an event aimed at sharing the flavors of Gwangju by providing various experiences and competitions centered on foods representing Gwangju, offering performances where residents can come together, and promoting the Namdo Local Food Museum, a hub for experiencing regional food culture.
Now in its second year, this event will be held around the Namdo Local Food Museum, with about 1,500 local residents including migrant women and students participating. The festival will feature ▲ Gwangju Representative Food Experience Programs ▲ Gwangju Representative Food Photo Exhibition ▲ Gwangju Representative Food Competition, among others.
First, the experience programs include food-making activities such as making 'Kimchi', 'Jumeokbap' (rice balls), and 'Hongcha' (black tea), as well as art experiences linking Gwangju representative foods and crafts, such as making 'Sangchu Twigim Balkak Sobahn' (lettuce tempura serving tray) and 'Oritang Ceramic Bowls' (duck soup ceramic bowls).
Additionally, there will be a traditional food photo exhibition under the theme 'My Gwangju Representative Food' and a Gwangju Jumeokbap competition for elementary school students, offering visitors enjoyment through participants' creative food displays. Entries in the competition will be judged, and outstanding works will receive certificates.
Moreover, a food humanities lecture titled 'Our Eating and Drinking Stories in Movies' by Jin Mo-young, director of the film 'Nim-a, Don't Cross That River', will be provided, along with lively outdoor garden performances including popera and Nanta shows.
