Gangnam-gu, Traditional Rice Harvesting by Little Farmers at Yangjaecheon
Over 200 Children and Residents Participate in Rice Farming Workshop at Yeongdong 4-gyo Riverside Learning Site on the Morning of the 20th -
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) held a "Traditional Autumn Harvest Experience Event" at 10 a.m. on the 20th at the Yangjaecheon Rice Farming Learning Center (near Yeongdong 4 Bridge).
At this autumn harvest, over 200 people, including children from daycare centers, harvested the rice that residents had planted themselves last May. The children cut the rice with sickles and carried the sheaves using traditional backpacks according to traditional methods. They threshed the rice using traditional farming tools such as the holtae and the foot-operated thresher. The harvested rice will be dried, milled, and donated to local welfare facilities.

He added, "We will continue to operate various experience programs that highlight the ecological value of Yangjaecheon."
