They also visited the Father Lee Tae-seok Memorial Hall and the United Nations (UN) Peace Memorial Hall for a Memories Volun-tour, and held meetings with companies and related organizations to review future plans and strengthen partnerships.
On the 17th, they met with Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun to engage in in-depth discussions on cooperation strategies for the successful hosting of the 2024 World Volunteer Conference.
The ‘2024 World Volunteer Conference’ will be held in Busan for four days from October 22 to 25 next year. It is expected to attract about 1,400 volunteers from over 80 countries worldwide. The event will consist of keynote speeches, breakout sessions, volunteer forums, and Volun-tours.
Volun-tour is a tourism program combined with volunteer activities that promotes the value and meaning of volunteering.
Busan succeeded in hosting the event for the second time in Korea after 22 years since the Seoul conference in 2002. The city applied to host the conference in November 2022 and, through continuous efforts, succeeded in securing the 2024 World Volunteer Conference in Busan in March 2023. In June, a business agreement for hosting the conference was also signed between the Busan Volunteer Center and the International Association for Volunteer Effort.
Park Kyung-ok, Director of the Volunteer Center, stated, “Busan City and the Busan Volunteer Center are leading efforts to ensure a successful conference, and we hope this event will serve as an opportunity to elevate Busan’s volunteer brand capabilities to the next level.”
