Paju Unjeong·Gyoha 'Ddokbus' 5 Additional Buses... Operation Starts from the 20th
On the 20th, five additional 'Ddokbus' vehicles were deployed in the Unjeong and Gyoha areas of Paju, Gyeonggi Province. As a result, the total number of Ddokbus vehicles in this area has increased to 15.
Ddokbus is a unique brand of Gyeonggi Province's demand-responsive transport system (DRT), meaning 'smartly moving bus.' Ddokbus is a customized public transportation service that flexibly transports passengers in new towns or transportation-vulnerable areas without fixed routes or predetermined schedules, responding to passenger calls.
Unlike conventional buses with fixed routes, Ddokbus uses artificial intelligence (AI) to create optimal travel routes in real-time according to passenger demand.
Paju Ddokbus started operating in December 2021 with ten 11-passenger Hyundai Solati vehicles. However, due to increased waiting times caused by a rise in Ddokbus users, an expansion of the fleet was decided this time.
Meanwhile, a Paju user satisfaction survey conducted in July (on a 100-point scale) showed a 91-point intention to use Ddokbus and a 94-point recommendation intention, indicating high user approval. However, considering the majority of dissatisfaction related to long waiting times and dispatch failures, the shortage of Ddokbus vehicles due to increased users was identified as the most inconvenient issue.
Gyeonggi Province expects that the current waiting time of 16.5 minutes will be reduced by more than 20% through the addition of five Ddokbus vehicles in Unjeong and Gyoha.

Um Giman, Director of the Metropolitan Transportation Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The increase in vehicles due to rising users in the Unjeong and Gyoha Ddokbus operation areas is the first case in the province, and residents' response is very positive. We plan to expand Ddokbus operations, a customized transportation service, to various areas within the province so that residents in transportation-vulnerable areas can travel conveniently."
