Global Trends in Electric Vehicles and Autonomous Driving Converge in Daegu... 'Future Mobility Expo' Kicks Off

Largest Exhibition Ever, Offering Various Hands-on Experiences
The '2023 Korea Future Mobility Expo (2023 DIFA),' where the present and future of South Korea's mobility technology can be explored in one place, opened on the 19th and will be held for three days until the 21st at EXCO East and West Halls.
At the opening ceremony, over 100 distinguished guests, including Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo, Baek Won-guk, 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Lee Seung-ryeol, Director of Industrial Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Tony Clemson, Commercial Counsellor of the British Embassy in Korea, and CS Chua, President of Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific, as well as representatives from leading domestic and international companies, gathered to mark the beginning of the festival.
Recently, the global automotive industry is rapidly transforming into an advanced industry represented by electrification with electric vehicles, the emergence of future transportation modes such as UAM, and the convergence of semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and software, requiring unprecedented collaboration among related industries and comprehensive development strategies.
In line with this trend, Daegu City, together with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, has prepared an unprecedented event covering all fields of the future mobility industry, including electric vehicles, core components such as motors and batteries, autonomous driving, and urban air mobility. A total of 230 companies are participating with 1,500 booths.
The East Hall is organized into a complete vehicle exhibition hall featuring seven domestic and international companies including Hyundai Motor Company to showcase the electrification transition trend at a glance, a K-battery exhibition hall with LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI, L&F, and others, and an electric component exhibition hall displaying future car R&D achievements from the Korea Institute for Industrial Technology Evaluation and Planning, motors, chargers, and other electronic components.
The West Hall consists of citizen-friendly content such as the K-UAM Dream Team special exhibition, the autonomous driving exhibition led by the government-wide Autonomous Driving Technology Development Innovation Project Group, drone hunting battles, Korea Expressway Corporation traffic safety experiences, and a job fair.
The international forum, attended by domestic and foreign scholars, will feature 17 sessions and lectures by 65 speakers covering the latest trends and innovative technologies in the future mobility industry, focusing on policies, semiconductors, batteries, motors, autonomous driving, and software-defined vehicles (SDV).
At the keynote speech on the first day, Sung Nak-seop, Head of R&D Planning and Coordination at Hyundai Motor Group, will present on building a cooperative ecosystem with external partners for hardware and software platform development, from connected car development to value chain innovation.
CS Chua, President of Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific, will introduce Infineon's solutions as the world's number one automotive and power semiconductor company, leading in top quality, high performance, and low cost. Clement Noubel, CTO of Valeo, will explain Valeo's leadership journey in advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and LiDAR through continuous large-scale investments realizing the autonomous driving technology revolution and development.
The exhibition hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (until 5 p.m. on Saturday), and to facilitate visitors from other regions, shuttle buses run every 20 minutes from Dongdaegu Station to EXCO.

Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo said, "Daegu will form a super-large new economic zone centered on the TK New Airport and is a city with the optimal infrastructure and technology for the future mobility industry to develop," adding, "I hope domestic and international companies participating in the event will grow and develop into global companies together with Daegu."
