Samsung Cultural Foundation to Hold Advanced Piano Tuner Training Course Next Month
On November 1-3, the Samsung Foundation of Culture announced on the 19th that it will hold an advanced training course for piano tuners by inviting overseas instructors at the auditorium of the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul.

In this training, Lutz Leibeholtz, a tuner from Germany, will serve as the instructor and demonstrate and guide the tuning, regulation, and voicing processes of concert pianos for 20 promising domestic tuners.
Since 2017, the Samsung Foundation of Culture has been providing opportunities for capable domestic piano tuners, in cooperation with the Korea Piano Tuners Association, to receive advanced tuning techniques from overseas in order to cultivate world-class piano tuners.
Since 2017, they have dispatched 'overseas technical training' to foreign piano manufacturers such as Steinway and Yamaha, and supported 'domestic technical seminars' conducted by inviting renowned overseas masters. In 2022, they established an 'advanced course' lasting 10 days to intensively transfer the professional know-how of domestic and international tuning masters.
This year, they resumed overseas technical training, which was suspended during 2021-2022 due to the pandemic, while operating domestic technical seminars normally and conducting the advanced course.

The advanced course will be attended by 20 promising domestic tuners selected earlier in June. Lutz Leibeholtz, who gave a special lecture on overall concert piano maintenance at the previous domestic technical seminar, will return to Korea to provide intensive training as a follow-up to the technical seminar in the advanced course. Additionally, tuners Park Seonghwan, Seo Insu, and Lim Jonggu will impart their specialized skills.
