Police Agency Cyber Security Awards Ceremony... Officer Kim Gyegwan Receives Presidential Citation
The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters held the '16th Cyber Security Awards Ceremony' on the 19th at Songdo Convensia in Incheon.
At this awards ceremony, commendations and letters of appreciation were presented to 27 police officers, public officials, and citizens who contributed to establishing cyber security in various fields such as cybercrime investigation and prevention, and digital forensics. Additionally, two individuals who achieved excellent results in two competitions?the 2023 Cybercrime Prevention Content Contest and the 5th Public Safety Software Development Contest, both hosted by the Cyber Investigation Bureau?received awards from the Commissioner of the National Police Agency.
Sergeant Kim Gyegwan of the Cyber Investigation Division at the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency received the Presidential Citation, the grand prize, for strengthening cyber investigation capabilities through analyzing CCTV evidence of major cases and developing video restoration programs. Seongsangheon, a member of Nuricops at the Gyeonggi Bukbu Provincial Police Agency, was awarded the Prime Minister’s Citation for his continuous contributions to securing safety in cyberspace through reporting illegal and harmful information on the internet.
In addition, three police officers with the most outstanding achievements in cyber investigation activities over the past two years were selected and granted a promotion of one pay grade.

The Cyber Security Award was established to actively discover and reward field contributors who have greatly contributed to the safety of cyberspace, to boost the morale of cyber police, and to strengthen cooperation with the private sector. This year marks its 16th anniversary. Yoon Hee-geun, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, said, “We thank everyone who has dedicated themselves to cyber investigations, and we expect this awards ceremony to serve as an opportunity to further solidify cooperation in the field of cyber investigation.”
