"Revealing 'Parenting Tips' for Playing Well with Grandchildren"... Gangseo-gu Holds Classes for Grandparents
First-Come, First-Served Registration for 150 People Until the 31st of This Month
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) is launching a program to share valuable childcare tips, including proper parenting methods and ways to relieve childcare stress, for grandparents who are struggling with raising their grandchildren.
The district is operating the "2023 Grandparents' Grandchild Care Class" for grandparents and prospective grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. As the number of dual-income families increases, more grandparents are taking care of their grandchildren instead of their working children, and the influence of grandparents on childcare continues to grow in economic and educational aspects.
The education sessions will be held twice on November 3 and 10, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Gangseo Lifelong Learning Center auditorium. In the first week, under the theme "The Happy Life of Grandparents," lectures on childcare secrets and stress relief will be provided, including ▲My Brain, My Health ▲Brain Exercises for Brain Health ▲Learning New Generation Childcare Skills, along with making fun toys to play with grandchildren such as making Funicon pizza and clay soap play.
In the second week, lectures on "Reading Play Guidance" will be given, including ▲Recommended Picture Books Loved by Grandchildren ▲Book Play Tips for Children with Frequent Anger ▲Practice of Storytelling Voice Techniques, along with practical sessions on making toys using picture books.
Both sessions in weeks one and two will be conducted by instructor Son Ji-su, an internationally certified AP parenting education specialist, picture book psychological counselor, and brain education instructor.
Grandparents or prospective grandparents living in Gangseo-gu with grandchildren aged 7 or younger can apply by phone until the 31st of this month. However, registration is limited to the first 150 applicants and may close early.
