Goheung-gun Promotes Happy Nest Project to Improve Housing Conditions for Vulnerable Groups
Improvement of Residential Safety and Convenience Facilities
Gohung-gun, Jeonnam Province (Governor Gong Yeong-min) announced that it will promote the Happy Nest Project to provide stable housing for vulnerable residents living in poor housing conditions.
This project aims to improve the living environment and enhance the quality of life for housing-vulnerable groups in the blind spots of housing welfare through a public-private partnership involving Jeonnam Province, Gohung-gun, and the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of the Korea Housing Construction Association, utilizing lottery funds.
This year, a total budget of 290 million KRW (240 million KRW from lottery funds and 50 million KRW from the county budget) will be invested to carry out the project for 15 households, targeting beneficiaries of public assistance, lower-income groups, and national veterans.
Additionally, depending on the condition of the houses, project costs ranging from 25 million KRW to 30 million KRW will be supported. The project will focus on improving housing safety facilities such as structure, electricity, and gas, as well as convenience facilities like heating, kitchens, and bathrooms, moving beyond simple aesthetic improvements like wallpaper and flooring replacement.
Meanwhile, prior to the implementation of this project, Gohung-gun signed a consignment agreement for the 2023 Happy Nest Project with the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of the Korea Housing Construction Association in June, and finalized the project recipients after on-site inspections and preparation of design documents.
A county official stated, “We hope that the Happy Nest Project, which creates a pleasant living environment, will contribute to the housing satisfaction and quality of life improvement for vulnerable groups.” He added, “We will continue to discover eligible recipients and expand the Happy Nest Project.”
