Attended ‘Seoul ADEX 2023’ … Investment Attraction Activities
Gim Jang-ho, mayor of Gumi City, attended ‘Seoul ADEX 2023’ held at Seoul Airport on the 17th.
He held a meeting with members of the National Assembly’s Defense Committee and Eom Dong-hwan, Administrator of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, during which he proposed attracting the Defense Parts Research Institute to Gumi and explained the ongoing Gyeongbuk-Gumi Defense Innovation Cluster project.
Seoul ADEX is held to expand export opportunities for domestic aerospace and defense industry products and to facilitate technology exchange with advanced overseas companies.
Mayor Gim visited booths of mid-sized defense companies targeted for investment attraction, explaining that Gumi ranks first nationwide in the production of guided missiles and surveillance reconnaissance equipment, and possesses well-established defense-related infrastructure, demonstrating the potential of its defense industry. He actively promoted investment attraction.
He then visited booths of local participating companies such as Hanwha Systems, LIG Nex1, Seyoung Information & Communication, QS, and Ninano Company to encourage company representatives.
In the afternoon, a technology exchange meeting hosted by the Defense Technology Promotion Institute was held, with participation from 17 companies including Hanwha Systems and Ninano Company. This provided an opportunity to enhance market development, collaborative development, and commercialization linkage of technologies for local defense small and venture enterprises.
On the 19th, over 50 defense-related personnel from the Gumi Defense Industry Council, Gumi Electronics and Information Technology Institute, and city hall will attend the event to understand the paradigm and key issues of the defense industry and exchange information on strategies for the development of Gumi’s defense industry and ways to strengthen technological competitiveness.
Mayor Gim said, “Through this event, we confirmed the development prospects of the domestic and international defense industry. In line with the increase in K-defense exports, we will create innovative changes so that Gumi, newly selected for the Defense Innovation Cluster, can advance as the ‘K-Defense New Industry Capital.’”
