The Robot Surgery Center at Samsung Changwon Hospital excels in surgical diseases such as breast cancer and thyroid cancer, as well as gynecological and urological diseases. In 2017, it was the first in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) region to successfully perform robotic oral thyroid surgery. In 2019, it gained national attention in the domestic robot surgery field by achieving the first successful robotic partial mastectomy for breast cancer in Korea and by consecutively succeeding in total mastectomy and reconstruction surgeries performed simultaneously by the departments of surgery and plastic surgery.
To accelerate the development of the Robot Surgery Center, in December 2021, the hospital introduced the da Vinci SP (Single Port), the first single-port robotic surgical system in Busan and Gyeongnam. Since the introduction of the da Vinci SP, the center’s progress has accelerated. Within seven months, it surpassed 100 single-port robot surgeries, and by December of the same year, just five months later, it exceeded 200 cases. In October of this year, it surpassed a total of 400 cases, showing rapid growth in the field of high-difficulty robot surgeries.
