"Interested in Income-Generating Projects at Closed Schools?" ... Gyeongbuk Office of Education Calls for Proposals on Utilization of 26 Closed Schools
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) is publicly soliciting proposals for the utilization of 26 unused closed schools in the province from local residents and local governments to promote the use of closed schools.
Currently, there are 227 closed schools in the Gyeongbuk area, of which 47 remain unused.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education is publicly soliciting utilization projects for closed school properties from local residents and local governments for 26 of the 47 unused closed schools, excluding 21 schools for which specific utilization plans have been decided.
This public contest project will be conducted in a way that local resident communities take charge of operations, local governments provide personnel and financial support, and the Gyeongbuk Office of Education offers free lease and basic facilities support.
A local resident community refers to an organization such as a cooperative or village association formed by more than 50% of the residents within the school district at the time of school closure. The closed schools can be utilized for local tourism projects, income-increasing projects, welfare facilities for residents, and so on.
The application period is until the 27th, and applicants must submit the application form and project plan form via email, mail, or official document.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education plans to select projects based on the submitted application forms and project plans, considering the validity of the community composition, suitability of the lease purpose, and whether local government support is provided.
