Gokseong-gun Launches Jeonnam-Style Youth Community Revitalization Project

Strengthening Youth Community Capacities and Supporting the Growth of Local Community Activity Leaders

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that on October 13th (Friday), it held the launch ceremony for the Jeonnam-type Youth Community Activation Project at the Bibileondeok25 education center, a youth facility in the area.

The Jeonnam-type Youth Community Activation Project is a program designed to establish a foundation for youth activities in the region to encourage local settlement, strengthen the capabilities of youth communities, and support their growth as active participants in the local society.

Participants in the project will receive task performance expenses to support youth community activities and network event expenses to facilitate exchange and communication among youth communities in the area. The county selected 30 members from 5 youth community teams through an open recruitment process.

At the launch ceremony, the event began with presentations of each community’s activity plans and aspirations, followed by education on the project’s direction and proper execution of subsidies. Afterwards, discussions on future plans for smooth project implementation were held, along with a networking session to foster close communication among the communities.

Going forward, the youth community teams will undertake projects such as developing food using local specialties, free experience programs for marginalized groups, cultural and artistic experience programs for local seniors, research and development of children’s play culture and creative play culture talent donations, carbon neutrality campaigns (plogging), creation and exhibition of artworks using recycled materials, and handpan instrument concerts involving local youth and residents.

A county official stated, “Through this project, we aim to encourage youth to settle locally instead of moving to large cities, and to support them in becoming representative actors of the region who contribute to revitalizing the local community.”
