Busan City Hanmaeum Sports Center Selected as '2023 Best Sports Facility for the Disabled'!
Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism 'Excellent Sports Facilities for the Disabled and Disability-Friendly Sports Facilities Selection Project' Evaluation Results
'Exclusive Use Time for Disabled at Gymnasium', Introduction of Innovative Policie
As a result of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's evaluation of the ‘2023 Excellent Sports Facilities for the Disabled and Disability-Friendly Facilities Selection Project’ this year, ‘Busan City Hanmaeum Sports Center’ was selected as the best facility.
Among 77 sports facilities for the disabled nationwide, Busan City Hanmaeum Sports Center achieved the highest scores in evaluation categories such as ▲operation of programs for the disabled ▲convenience for disabled users ▲safety ▲utilization of sports class vouchers for the disabled, earning the distinction of being the best among excellent sports facilities for the disabled.
So far, Hanmaeum Sports Center has continuously made various efforts to prioritize convenience for disabled users as a sports facility accessible not only to the disabled but also to non-disabled people.
Last year, it was selected as the top franchise facility nationwide for sports class vouchers for the disabled, and this year, it introduced a groundbreaking policy called ‘exclusive use hours for the disabled in the gym,’ allowing disabled individuals to focus solely on training and exercise from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. without any concerns.
This is credited with playing a foundational role in enabling the Busan City disabled athletes to consistently achieve excellent results at the National Sports Festival for the Disabled despite the lack of adequate training environments.
Additionally, as this year marks the 15th anniversary of the opening of Busan City Hanmaeum Sports Center, it is taking the lead in creating a world without prejudice by naturally bringing together disabled and non-disabled people through events such as the Disabled Sports Photography Exhibition and the Disabled and Non-Disabled Hanmaeum Sports Festival (October 15).
