Yeongdeungpo-gu, Creation of Rest Areas for Mobile Workers
Full Operation Starting from the 13th... Equipped with Air Conditioners, Blood Pressure Monitors, Massage Devices... Weekdays 10 AM to 9 PM, Day and Night Staff Assigned... Shower Rooms, Shared Kitchen, Book Cafe, and More Open
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will officially operate the "Yeongdeungpo-gu Mobile Workers' Shelter" within the Yeongdeungpo-gu Comprehensive Workers Support Center starting October 13.
In August of this year, the district was finally selected for Seoul City's "Mobile Workers' Shelter Creation Contest Project," and thus established the mobile workers' shelter on the first floor of the Yeongdeungpo-gu Comprehensive Workers Support Center at the end of September.
The mobile workers' shelter was created to provide a resting space for mobile workers who experience inconvenience due to the lack of a separate office, such as couriers, delivery drivers, substitute drivers, gas meter readers, care workers, and private tutors.
The district utilized the lobby space within the Yeongdeungpo-gu Comprehensive Workers Support Center to create a "shelter space" where mobile workers can rest comfortably. To support the rest and health management of mobile workers, the shelter is equipped with air conditioning and heating, a water purifier, refrigerator, multifunction printer, phone chargers, coffee machine, blood pressure monitor, various massage devices, and helmet dryers.
The operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays. To operate the shelter safely and comfortably, one staff member is assigned for both day and night shifts. Additionally, the district opens the following facilities until the shelter's operating hours to enhance user convenience: the men's restroom, shower room, shared kitchen, and parking lot on the first floor of the Yeongdeungpo-gu Comprehensive Workers Support Center, as well as the women's restroom, book caf?, and pantry on the fourth floor.
Furthermore, the district actively supports various programs for vulnerable mobile workers, including free labor consultations, industrial safety and health education, healing programs, free health consultations, self-help group support, and ice water distribution.
