KPGA '2023 Genesis Championship' Opens
The Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) 2023 Genesis Championship will be held from the 12th to the 15th.
The Genesis Championship is a KPGA Korean Tour event hosted by Genesis in Korea since 2017 to promote golf domestically. It is conducted in a 4-round, 72-hole stroke play format (where the player with the lowest total strokes over all holes wins).
This year marks the 20th season of the tournament, with the concept "Challenge Toward Greatness." A total of 120 players, including all past champions such as Im Sung-jae and Kim Young-soo, will participate. The venue is the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea located in Songdo, Incheon.
The total prize money for the tournament is 1.5 billion KRW, with the winner's prize being 300 million KRW. The champion will also receive prizes including ▲Genesis GV80 Coupe ▲Kiton custom suit ▲an entry ticket to the '2024 Genesis Scottish Open,' a co-sanctioned event by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
Additionally, Genesis will award a GV70 electric model to the player who records the first hole-in-one on the 17th hole, and a GV60 to that player's caddie. This tournament offers the highest number of Genesis Points on the KPGA Korean Tour (1,300 points for the winner). Top KPGA players such as Ham Jeong-woo, Lee Jung-hwan, and Go Gun-taek, who currently rank high in Genesis Points, are expected to engage in fierce competition.
Genesis operates a differentiated hospitality program to ensure that participating players and caddies can perform at their best. At this tournament, a dedicated lounge within the venue will be available for players and caddies to take sufficient rest during the competition.
Furthermore, services to support players' recovery and performance improvement include ▲tour vans and nearby hotel accommodations for all players ▲multi-brand practice balls at the driving range. For caddies, Genesis continues its unique hospitality culture by providing ▲a separate winner's trophy for winning caddies ▲a 'Caddie Bib Naming Service' that displays the caddie's name on their vest ▲and a hole-in-one prize (Genesis GV60 model) for caddies.
