Installation of Unique Landscape Lighting on Eungbonggyo Connecting Eungbong-dong and Seongsu-dong... Creating a Night Landmark... Enhancing Urban Aesthetics with a Healing Spot Reflecting Natural Light and the Charm of Eungbongsan... Completion Scheduled for January Next Year
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) will install landscape lighting on Eungbong Bridge, which connects Eungbong-dong and Seongsu-dong, reflecting the opinions of local residents and experts, aiming for completion in January next year.
To this end, the district started the "Basic and Detailed Design Service for Eungbong Bridge Landscape Lighting Installation Project" in January this year. First, to set the design direction at the early stage of the project, a meeting of the Seongdong-gu Public Design Residents' Council, a resident participation organization in the field of public design, was held.
Through the residents' council meeting, various opinions were collected such as "It is desirable to plan the lighting based on the forsythia, a famous feature of Eungbong Mountain," "Please design it to express warm and gentle colors in a nature-friendly way to avoid light pollution," and "Please focus on the arch among the bridge components for the lighting effect."
Based on this, Seongdong-gu set the design direction under the theme of 'Light of Nature, a Healing Spot Filled with the Atmosphere of Eungbong Mountain.' Then, in May, after deliberation by the Seongdong-gu Public Design Promotion Committee composed of design experts, a detailed lighting plan was prepared, and in August, after the Seoul City Good Light Committee's review, the plan for installing landscape lighting on Eungbong Bridge was finalized.
Full-scale construction began earlier this month and is scheduled for completion in January next year. The landscape lighting on Eungbong Bridge will highlight the structural beauty of the arch-shaped bridge while producing eco-friendly and restrained lighting that harmonizes with the surrounding scenery. It is expected to become another landmark, blending with nearby Seoul Forest Park, Jungnangcheon walking trail, and the Seongsu Culture and Arts Square located on the Sampyo site.
