With the election of Jin Gyo-hoon, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate for Gangseo District Mayor, confirmed, the ruling and opposition parties showed contrasting reactions.

View original imageKwon Chil-seung, the senior spokesperson for the Democratic Party, said in a written briefing, "This is a stern reprimand from the people to the Yoon Seok-yeol administration," adding, "The Gangseo District mayoral by-election is a stern reprimand from the people on the Yoon Seok-yeol administration’s governance, which has been marked by incompetence, lack of communication, and arrogance."
Senior spokesperson Kwon emphasized, "We sincerely thank the people for putting the brakes on the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, which recklessly continues without any reflection despite the plummeting livelihood and economy," and added, "We must also move away from the arrogance that pardons and nominates those responsible for causing the by-election and disregards the judiciary and the people."
He continued, "If the Yoon Seok-yeol administration or the People Power Party attempts to downplay or deny the reprimand dealt by the people today, they will face even greater judgment," and said, "President Yoon should humbly accept today’s election results, abandon arrogant, dogmatic, and uncommunicative governance, and initiate a major shift in government policy and personnel reform to revitalize governance."

Yoo Sang-beom, the senior spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a press release, "We humbly accept the solemn choice of the residents of Gangseo District," and added, "We will bow our heads lower and become a People Power Party that approaches the people with a more humble attitude."
Senior spokesperson Yoo said, "The People Power Party and the Yoon Seok-yeol administration will focus solely on the livelihood of the people and strive even harder to normalize the abnormal, restore liberal democracy, and accelerate the recovery of the livelihood economy."
