Gyeonggi-do Marine Fisheries Resources Institute, Free Repair Service for Fishing Equipment
Gyeonggi Province is launching a free repair support service for fishing equipment.
The Gyeonggi Marine and Fisheries Resources Research Institute announced on the 11th that it will operate a free mobile repair service targeting vulnerable fishing villages in island and remote areas where it is difficult to repair fishing equipment.
The support targets 3 cities and counties?Hwaseong-si, Ansan-si, and Yeoncheon-gun?and 7 fishing cooperatives, inspecting a total of 100 fishing vessels. Repairs cover three areas: electrical, communication, and engine, including battery, propeller, oil filter replacement, and GPS communication checks.
Fishermen using the mobile repair service can receive support twice a year per person, with repair costs covered up to 100,000 KRW per session.
Gyeonggi Province has visited six fishing cooperatives once each, including Gukhwado in Hwaseong-si, Jeburi, Seongam, Tando, Pungdo, Yeoncheon, and Sinyeoncheon, repairing over 60 vessels in total.
Fishing cooperatives wishing to receive support from the mobile fishing equipment repair service can refer to the notice board on the Gyeonggi Provincial Government website.

Kim Bong-hyun, director of the Gyeonggi Marine and Fisheries Resources Research Institute, stated, "We will do our best to operate the mobile repair service project to ensure safe fishing activities for fishermen in the province and to reduce their economic burden from repair costs."
