In her second year, Lee Ye-won has ascended to become a 'Major Queen.'
On the 8th, at the Blue Heron Golf Club in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province (par 72, 6,763 yards), Lee Ye-won finished the final round of the 23rd Hite Jinro Championship, the last major tournament of the year on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, with a one-stroke loss but secured victory by two strokes (7-under-par 281). Starting with a five-stroke lead, Lee Ye-won recorded three birdies and four bogeys. After back-to-back birdies on the 3rd and 5th holes, followed by a birdie on the 8th hole (par 4), she reduced her score by three strokes in the front nine, distancing herself from her competitors. She made a bogey on the 12th hole (par 4) after her tee shot landed in the rough, followed by consecutive bogeys on the 14th and 15th holes, and lost another stroke on the 18th hole (par 5), but these scores did not affect her victory. Last year’s Rookie of the Year, Lee Ye-won is showcasing peak performance this year, leading in wins, prize money (1.26054 billion won), and points for the Player of the Year award (562 points).
