International Community Unanimously Condemns Hamas Amid Israel Offensive
The armed faction Hamas, which governs the Gaza Strip in Palestine, launched a rocket attack on Israel on the 7th (local time), drawing condemnation from countries around the world.
The Palestinian Affairs Office under the U.S. Department of State posted on X (formerly Twitter) that day, stating, "We unequivocally condemn the attacks by Hamas terrorists and the resulting loss of life," and added, "We urge all parties to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks. Terrorism and violence solve nothing."
Josep Borrell, the European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said, "We are watching the news from Israel with sorrow. We unequivocally condemn Hamas's attacks." He continued, "This horrific violence must stop immediately. The EU expresses solidarity with Israel in this difficult time."
Charles Michel, President of the European Council, also wrote on X, "We strongly condemn the indiscriminate attacks against Israel and its people. This morning's attack inflicted terror and violence on innocent civilians." He expressed condolences to all victims and stated, "(The EU) stands in solidarity with the people of Israel in this terrible moment."
European countries also expressed condemnation of Hamas one after another. According to AFP news agency, Annalena Baerbock, Germany's Foreign Minister, said on social media, "(Germany) firmly condemns the terrorist attacks launched from Gaza against Israel."
James Cleverly, the United Kingdom's Foreign Secretary, also said, "The UK unequivocally condemns Hamas's horrific attacks on Israeli civilians," adding, "The UK will always support Israel's right to self-defense."
The French Embassy in Israel posted on X, stating, "Such terrorist attacks are unacceptable and must be condemned by all," and "We stand alongside Israel and the Israeli people."

According to AFP news agency, Ukraine, which has been enduring war for one year and eight months due to Russia's invasion, also expressed support for Israel's right to self-defense. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on social media that day, "Ukraine strongly condemns the ongoing terrorist attacks against Israel," and "We express support for Israel's right to defend itself and its people."
