The officials from these eight Latin American countries were invited through the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety’s “Capacity Building Project for Food Safety Management in Latin America (Official Development Assistance (ODA) project).” They arrived in Korea on the 1st and will participate in a diverse training program until the 10th.
This project aims to transfer Korea’s excellent food safety management know-how to Latin America, contributing to the advancement of food safety systems in export and import partner countries. This will help create an environment where domestic consumers can safely consume imported foods. The project is implemented by the Korea Food Safety Management Certification Institute under the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
During their stay, the officials from the eight Latin American countries will visit the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the Korea Food Safety Management Certification Institute, food manufacturers, inspection agencies, and Busan City to learn about ▲ food safety management systems ▲ import food safety management policies and inspection systems ▲ Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification standards ▲ food standards and specifications, and will also attend export support briefings for the eight Latin American countries.
On the day of their visit to Busan City Hall, the officials from the eight Latin American countries were introduced to Busan’s excellent food safety policies and gourmet city revitalization policies at the city’s international conference hall. They communicated with city officials about food policies and later moved to the Busan Future City Hall to watch promotional videos and experience activities related to the 2030 Busan World Expo.
Earlier, on the 4th, they visited Busan with training officials, toured the import food inspection site at the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (Busan Food and Drug Safety Office Testing and Analysis Center), and participated in cultural experiences. The visit to City Hall is their final schedule in Busan.
